Awwwards celebrate digital thinkers in Amsterdam

Experts on different fields offered the chance to learn more on the digital industry.

During two straight days, innovators, designers and digital thinkers gathered in Amsterdam to hold the Awwwards Conference, a chance to discover trends and new technologies, network and unveil the secrets of the internet – with some agencies even getting awards.

Machine learning as an UX problem, the secrets of digital craftsmanship, lessons from code, efficient design, designing for emotions, the borders between real and virtual and how to aim for innovation were only some of the topics discussed during the two days.

At the same time, there were a set of unmissable design talks with world-class speakers. Raise Cuevas, user-experience specialist at Google, Pablo Stanley, design lead at InvisionApp, Ida Aalen, co-founder at Confrere and Peter Smart, head of product design at Fantasy were some of them.

Participants also had access to a set of workshops carried out during the two days. Ida Aalen focused on easy and affordable user testing and Pablo Stanley on CSS grid landing pages, while Joël van Bodegraven and Pedro Marques gave training on AI with design.

Excitement built up at the event when the moment of the awards came at the end of the second day, with agencies sharing posts on social media. Bornfight won as agency of the year, while got hold of the awards for mobile site of the year and Immersive Garden for studio and developer of the year.

Awwwards is the most visited digital design awards platform in the world. Every year it holds conferences in iconic cities across the globe, including New York, Amsterdam, Paris, London and Los Angeles. Hundreds of experts gather at each even to share their knowledge and network.
