Winners of the 2019 European Awards edition.
The 12th edition of the European Design Awards or ED-Awards took place in Warsaw from 7–9 June 2019, recognizing outstanding and deserving work in the fields of print, web and exhibition design, illustration, packaging, mobile apps and motion graphics, with a total of 40 available categories.
Endorsed by ico-D, the ED-Awards is a joint initiative of design magazines from across Europe. Editors of the most important print and digital design publications make up the jury, and participants’ work can be featured in a number of these media, which means access to a wider audience, and gaining industry recognition.
The official Opening of the European Design Festival took place on Friday 7th of June at the world-famous Poster Museum in Warsaw (Wilanów) with a free guided tour by the curator of the “123 Polish posters”. There was a free exhibition of silkscreen posters made by the artists from all over the world at Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw that went on until Sunday.
Attendees had the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of Europe’s most talented and creative people, ideal for the community to come together, benchmark and get inspired.
In the preceding events to awards ceremony, design lovers could taste a delicious breakfast prepared by Bar Studio, and could buy illustrators and graphic designers works at NACISK graphic fairs.
This year’s ED-Award winners were revealed in a ceremony that took place at Warsaw’s Nowy Teatr. Hosted by British stand-up comedian Dane J. Baptiste and featuring people from 20 different European countries.
Only Europe-based designers were eligible to submit their work. Gold winners received a trophy while Silver winners received a diploma during the ceremony. Bronze winner would receive a diploma by post or in the ED-Conference reception.
Special distinctions were to: Kind (Bergen, Norway) for agency of the year, Privacy Label By Clever°Franke (Netherlands) won the Jury Prize, and Best of show prize was to Layered By Voskhod (Russia). The Ico-D Excellence Silver 2019 was to IABR–2018+2020–The Missing Link by Studio De Ronners (Netherlands).
