The standout advancements not only sought to address significant real-world challenges but also aimed to enhance the enjoyment of daily life.
Leveraging software and artificial intelligence for seamless connections among smart devices, homes, and automobiles took center stage for many prominent tech companies. Samsung adopted a “AI for all” approach, integrating its smart home devices and appliances to work harmoniously, such as automating oven pre-heating.
Samsung also partnered with Hyundai to pioneer “home-to-car” and “car-to-home” services for all Kia and Hyundai vehicles. Google expanded Chromecast compatibility to include more apps and devices, while Mercedes-Benz introduced a new AI-powered virtual assistant designed to personalize interactions between drivers and vehicles.
There was also progress in assistive technologies for the disabled. GyroGear, a medical tech startup, unveiled a hand-stabilizing glove aimed at assisting individuals with Parkinson’s and hand tremors in reclaiming control over their lives. CES 2024 showcased a plethora of innovations in the realm of mobility, featuring new EVs, remote construction machinery and hydrogen engines. Honda presented two concept cars, Saloon and Space-Hub, for its new EV series, while Kia launched a trio of electric vans capable of swiftly swapping body modules to alter their functionality.
Chef-like robots, AI-driven appliances, and other high-tech culinary gadgets were also introduced, among many innovations for the kitchen. GE is encouraging indoor smoking of food, while a Brisk smart grill, powered by generative AI. ColdSnap’s ice cream machine cuts down the preparation time for frozen treats to two minutes.
Finally, on the TV world, LG and Samsung revealed transparent TVs at the event. LG’s 77-inch transparent OLED screen is nearly invisible when turned off and can seamlessly switch between transparent mode and a conventional black background for regular TV viewing. Samsung also presented a transparent MICRO LED-powered display.
