Immerse Global Summit welcomes tech experts from around the world

For three full days, the tech community gathered in Madeira, Portugal for the Immerse Global Summit (IGS), a global conference with more than 100 speakers from the largest technological companies in the world. The event was fully hybrid, with live streaming and an online program taking place on a virtual platform.

“We have worked endless hours to bring the best speakers from around the globe to cover all immersive tech topics including metaverse, blockchain, web3, virtual and augmented reality, digital fashion, digital humans, enterprise, and more,” Anne-Marie Enns, Executive Producer of the Immerse Global Summit, said.

Anne-Marie Enns explained the project started about five years ago under the name VR/RA [virtual reality and augmented reality] Global Summit with face-to-face events in Canada, which with the pandemic of covid-19 began to be carried out digitally. Two years later, the name of the project became Immerse Global Summit.

Over 400 people headed to Madeira to participate in the event, alongside thousands that followed it online. Some of the companies that participated include Meta, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Google, Sony, Vodaphone, Magic Leap and Departure Lounge. Speakers were invited from all around the world to share their insights.

Join John Cunningham of Unity described the concept of the metaverse, explaining how the term went from the page of sci-fi literature to being the tech industry’s next multibillion-dollar bet. Meanwhile, Madalia introduced its metaverse project that bridges the real and virtual world together over a story.

Pearly Chen, VP at HTC VIVE, explored the core principles and technologies needed to create a metaverse ecosystem that is both accessible and exciting for all. And David Palmer from Vodafone explored the potential of solutions incorporating Blockchain, Self-Sovereign Digital Identity and mobile edge cryptography.

Storytelling also ranked high on the agenda. Khalid Al Muawad, CEO Midwam, gave a session on how storytelling can allow for further multi-sensory engagement. Meanwhile, Johannes Davidsson from Auki Labs, focused on augmented reality, explaining the expansion of the technology and its possibilities.

Many of the world’s most respected companies and thought leaders were at Immerse Global Summit, in a setting curated to deliver inspiration, and allow attendees to network with game-changing business connections,” said Nathan Pettyjohn, President of the VR/AR Association, who hosts Immerse Global Summit.
