An app that lets audiences ‘boo’ Britain’s Got Talent acts has had more than 1.5m interactions since the show’s return five weeks ago, according to its developer.
Social TV firm Live Talkback, which incorporated its buzzer into the Britain’s Got Talent mobile app, website and social media activity, said it had recorded 1.57m buzzes since the start of the show.
It generates revenue from broadcasters and producers by providing interactive services. Its interactive playalongs, such as the Britain’s Got Talent buzzer, also provide revenue opportunities around affiliate links and sponsorship/advertising. Such revenues are shared between the developer, the broadcaster and producer.
According to Live Talkback, broadcasters are embracing the chance to quantify audience engagement and behaviour.
Oliver Davies, producer at TalkbackThames Digital, which is responsible for the interactive elements of Britain’s Got Talent, said in a statement, “The social media interaction with Britain’s Got Talent has been bigger than ever. People are using our app to play along at home and make sure their voice is heard, whether they agree with the judges or not.”
Live Talkback is now launching a wider interactive TV app called Tellybug, integrating TV schedules with social media. Viewers will be able to hone in on Twitter streams around specific TV programmes.
