For two straight days, more than 700 people gathered in Amsterdam at Laracon Europe, an annual congress that brings together enthusiasts of Laravel, a highly popular PHP coding framework with a lively community.
Laracon EU provided the opportunity to learn about the state of the industry, while networking with like-minded and diversely experienced developers. It was the largest gathering so far of Laravel fans, who learned new perspectives, gained inspiration and became even better professionals.
Laracon takes place in the US and in Europe every year.
The event had two full days of code sharing activities and engaging presentations about the art of software engineering, the state of Laravel, performance optimization, using Laravel Cashier and time driven development, among many other topics.
A long list of experts from different fields gave a set of keynote speeches during the event, serving as inspiration to the attendees. Adel Faizrakhmanov, software developer at Patron Technology, Beau Simensen, technology strategy consultant, and Christian Zacharias, Senior engineer manager at Shopify, were only some of them.
Alongside the talks, Laracon EU included a set of workshops to dig deeper on a set of key issues. Chris Brown, founder at Zen Cart, gave a workshop on leveling your presentation skills, helping attendees to get clear with their message, while David McKay, developer at Influx Data, focused on Kubernets for developers.
At the same time, Beau Simensen, a technology strategy consultant, offered a day-long workshop on exploring business processes with event storming. Lars Peterke, a software engineer, focused on Vue.js for beginners, one of the most thriving JavaScript-frameworks out there.
There was also time to unwind and reflect on everything learnt during the day at a series of social gatherings, including coffee breaks, lunches and a night out at Undercurrent, one of the most beautiful spots alongside the water in Amsterdam.
Laracon has taken place in the United States, Europe and online in previous years. Typically, the conference happens in the United States and Europe every year. Next year the chosen city in Europe will be Madrid.
