Major Tom opens new headquarters in Vancouver
August 27th, 2018
After months of refurbishment, the full-service interactive agency Major Tom has opened the doors of its new headquarters in downtown Vancouver – a new space for collaboration, inspiration and concentration.
The team of 75 cross-functional specialists (and counting) has moved to a 112-year-old building that is not only the first heritage building in the city to be converted from a warehouse to a residential and commercial usage, but also a symbol of how much the company has grown over the last 18 months.
The upstairs area houses the main kitchen, a games station, and seating so everyone can hang out. There is also a shower so those who decide to bike or jog to work can freshen up. Plus, a custom-built 3D Major Tom sign.
Downstairs houses a large open-plan area. Inspired by Steve Jobs’ redesign of Pixar’s office, this layout helps foster the cross-pollination of ideas by bringing all the different departments closer together. The same level is also home to three boardrooms, two meeting spaces and a secret phone room.
The agency also has access to the building rooftop, plus an outdoor tennis court across the road and a bike store. All the headquarters’ features can be seen on the guided video tour, headed by John, a founding partner of Major Tom.
