The One Show, a top global awards show for advertising, design and digital marketing, focusing on the creativity of ideas and quality of execution, announced its 2022 winners in a ceremony in New York. Agencies and their impressive work reflected a year of challenge and innovation for the industry amid the pandemic.
Leo Burnett Chicago was the top-scoring Gold Pencil winner, taking home 20 Golds, all for “The Lost Class” on behalf of Change the Ref. The campaign invited NRA official David Keene to speak at a graduation ceremony in which the audience was made up of empty chairs to represent Class of 2021 students whose lives were lost in shootings.
Nine One Show Gold Pencils were won by McCann Paris Neuilly-sur-Seinefor “The Bread Exam” on behalf of Spinneys and the Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation. The ad was developed to help tackle cultural taboos relating to intimate parts of the body, as these taboos can prevent women from going to the doctor.
Africa São Paulo won eight Gold Pencils, four each for House of Lapland “Salla 2032” — two in Direct Marketing and one each in Integrated and Public Relations — and Folha de S.Paulo Newspaper “The Most Valuable News”, two in Design and one in Print. Salla 2032 raises awareness of the environmental crisis of the planet.
DentsuWebchutney Bengaluru won seven Gold Pencils, all for VICE World News “The Unfiltered History Tour,” an unofficial guide to the British Museum’s disputed artefacts. Also, with seven Golds was TBWA\Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, including five working with Else\Boulogne-Bilancourtfor for “Only Keep the Best of France.”
A total of 19,579 pieces from 66 countries and regions were entered in The One Show 2022, an increase of 10.5% over last year. Agencies, studios, brands, production companies and designers in 44 countries and regions were awarded 192 Gold Pencils, 164 Silver, 233 Bronze and 1,022 Merits.
