Wonderland Studio, now part of Hypersolid, is a brand experience design studio based in Amsterdam, renowned for its innovative approach to crafting exceptional online experiences. The studio specializes in designing cutting-edge digital solutions that empower businesses and brands to achieve transformative success.
Martijn van der Does, the founder of Wonderland Studio, is at the forefront of blending design, technology, and data to create digital platforms that deliver meaningful and enriching experiences. In an interview with TIA, he shared his perspective on Amsterdam’s unique fusion of historical design heritage and digital innovation. He highlighted his passion for simplifying complexity through design, the transformative role of automation in the creative process, and the critical importance of diversity in driving innovation. Martijn also offered valuable insights into Amsterdam’s evolving creative industry and the future of experience design.
I’m living in Amsterdam with my family and it’s a great city that perfectly balances historical design heritage with digital innovation. The city’s blend of tradition and forward-thinking technology creates an inspiring environment. We have an incredible concentration of talent here, making Amsterdam an exciting hub for digital innovation.
My day begins at 6:30 making breakfast for my kids. By 8:00, I’m crafting a good coffee and either heading to the office, meeting clients, or settling into a space at a coffee bar. I dedicate (try to) my mornings to reading and planning, which helps maintain focus on our vision throughout the day.
We’re passionate about simplifying complexity at the intersection of design, technology, and data. We aim to create digital platforms that go beyond basic functionality to deliver truly enriching experiences that resonate on both a practical and emotional level.
I believe that technology should enhance human creativity, not replace it. We’re integrating AI tools as essential partners in the creative process, preserving the human touch while innovating with our capabilities. By building automation agents into our design process, we can automate routine tasks and unleash creativity. The speed at which we can now build and iterate is crazy – it’s an incredibly exciting time for design and technology.
At Hypersolid, we recently won several Lovie awards for our Lotus showroom project. This project demonstrates the harmony between AI innovation and craftsmanship, showing how technology can enhance rather than replace the human element in design.

Our process begins with a fundamental question: how can we craft digital experiences that are both innovative and unforgettable while delivering tangible business impact? We’ve discovered a sweet spot we call the “Aesthetic edge” – where breakthrough design meets functionality and business value. It’s about creating experiences that not only push creative boundaries but also drive measurable results.
Our culture thrives on respect and diverse perspectives. We believe this diversity is essential for creating digital work that meaningfully addresses both industry challenges and societal needs.
Simplify complexity. That’s it. In a world of increasing technological complexity, this focused vision serves as our north star, guiding every decision and design choice we make.

Beyond design, I’m deeply fascinated by technology’s current trajectory and its potential to reshape creative landscapes and push culture forward. This fascination drives me to constantly read, learn, and experiment with emerging technologies. Besides this, obviously spent time with friends & family and the love for good food.
