Based in Toronto, Quantum Capture‘s mission is to offer the most realistic virtual humans to VR/AR content creators. By combining cutting-edge 3D scanning, motion capture and human behavioral code technologies, the company has developed a state-of-the-art virtual human development pipeline that is blurring the line between real, and virtual people.

The company was formed in 2015 by former AAA game developers Morgan Young and Craig Alguire, who had worked together on top titles including Assassins Creed.
Early clients included Sony, Warner Brothers, and Ubisoft. Soon Young and Alguire was looking at ways that other industries outside of video games could use virtual humans.
“Many sectors are just now becoming aware of the benefits of virtual humans and how they can be used to augment their workforces. We usually explain what we do as bringing AI to life by adding a photo-real 3D head and full body to interactive chatbot conversations, resulting in incredibly lifelike interactions with virtual humans,” Matt McPherson, COO at Quantum, told TIA in an interview.
Among its services, the company created CTRL Human, a platform that allows developers, content creators, brands, and businesses to easily license its system and add customized virtual human experiences powered by artificial intelligence and chatbot systems to virtual humans and avatars.
The platform allows to choose a virtual human or avatar from a character bank and customize its unique appearance, persona, and behavior, or Quantum Capture can create a custom character for you including a celebrity double.

The company also has a full production 3D scanning and motion capture studio available for productions of all sizes.
“We offer a flexible and low-cost platform that enables others – development partners, agencies and system integrators – to build and deploy their own virtual human experiences. We currently have projects underway by partners around the globe, in multiple languages in a wide-range of usage scenarios,” said McPherson.
The company works with a wide array of clients, from airports to museums. Advertising agencies are also on the list, helping them to launch new products and create unique and memorable activations. Since the current pandemic, Quantum Capture has experienced a spike in demand for touch-less kiosk systems that support physical distancing in high contact environment.

Quantum Capture has a long list of success stories from the use of its technology. This includes the development of a new digital solution using CTRL Human for SAP partner ITelligence, as well a long list of projects for Accenture during the last 12 months – such as using CTRL Human to build a virtual concierge for the launch of a tourism innovation hub.
But this is just starting. Quantum Capture keeps its roadmap aligned with the pixel-streaming and 5G network developments. Its developer network and end-users can expect to see high-quality virtual humans running in the browser on millions of devices, including mobile phones, anytime and anywhere.
“The opportunities for deploying CTRL Human experiences are about to explode. Within the year, our projects will be accessible in any web-browser, which users on every mobile device will be able to have high-quality interactions with virtual humans built with CTRL-Human. It is set to be a massive game changer,” affirmed McPherson.
